Dr Mohammed Afrin is a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist and Head of the Radiology Department at Apollo Super Speciality Hospital, Muscat. He brings over eight years of post‑MD experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology, having worked across leading tertiary and super‑speciality institutions in India and Oman.
He completed his MD in Radiodiagnosis from Yenepoya University, Mangalore, and subsequently undertook a visiting fellowship at Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. Dr Afrin has successfully completed FRCR Part 1 and Part 2A, with FRCR Part 2B planned in 2026 in the next available sitting. He holds an Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) license as a Specialist Radiologist and membership with RCR and IRIA.
Since joining Apollo Super Speciality Hospital at its inception, Dr Afrin has played a essential leadership role in establishing and developing the Radiology Department, including imaging protocol development, quality assurance oversight, and collaboration with hospital management. He independently reports across all imaging modalities and actively supports multidisciplinary clinical teams.
His clinical expertise includes CT, MRI, and Ultrasound, with advanced experience in CT coronary angiography, MR arthrography, musculoskeletal imaging, transplant imaging, oncology imaging, and women’s imaging. He is highly skilled in a wide range of USG‑ and CT‑guided non‑vascular interventional procedures, ensuring accurate diagnosis and minimally invasive patient care.
Before his current role, Dr Afrin served as Senior Registrar at VPS Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre, a premier oncology and transplant center in South India. There, he gained extensive experience in complex cross‑sectional imaging, intraoperative ultrasound for liver transplantation, and post‑transplant Doppler studies using advanced technology including 3T MRI and 128‑slice CT systems.
Dr Afrin is actively involved in medical education and research. He has published in peer‑reviewed journals, presented research at national radiology conferences, and has trained undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, including hands‑on teaching at Asia’s largest medical simulation center.
Known for his clear communication, and patient‑focused care, Dr Afrin combines clinical precision with strong leadership to deliver high‑quality, reliable radiology services.
