Dr. Ali Al Sawai

Pediatrics & Neonatology

Dr. Al Sawai serves as a Consultant Neonatologist in the tertiary level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Khoula Hospital starting in 2021. He earned his M.D. degree from Sultan Qaboos University and completed his pediatrics specialty board through the Oman Medical Specialty Board. Additionally, Dr. Al Sawai pursued a 2-year fellowship in perinatal-neonatal medicine at the University of Toronto in Canada.

At Khoula Hospital's NICU, Dr. Al Sawai has played a pivotal role in establishing a small baby unit which was complemented by a set of guidelines and protocols that cover various aspects in the management of extremely low birth weight infants. Beyond this, he demonstrates a particular interest in Neonatal Neurocritical care and has organized workshops focusing on neonatal brain monitoring and mechanical ventilation. Dr. Al Sawai actively participates in both international and local conferences and involved with teaching and training at the Oman medical specialty board.

 Dr. Al Sawai has gained recognizable leadership with his active involvement in different quality improvement projects and committees in the hospital and Ministry of Health.
